http://www.notestomary.com/

This site contains a series of letters from a student apparently named Robert to a girl named Mary. They are fairly disturbing if taken at face value.

The site was stumbled upon this morning by the good goons over at Something Awful, at this thread. Their emails to the site were given the following responses:

Quote:

Thank you for your inquiry to Memory. Unfortunately, I cannot give any suggestions at this time, due to the nature of this web site. Please continue to watch for updates, as this site changes frequently (at least once every other day, sometimes more frequent).

Assistance with your... problem... may come from outside sources. Please feel free to utilize the expertise of others that may be more familiar with this... problem.

4/4 = 1.

Series one of five.

The reference to 6/24 and 1981 led to this incident

The Unfiction forums were then brought in with this thread.

About an hour later, someone recieved this message:

Series two of five. You see the venue pattern? Vanity serves other purposes, especially at the fifth series. Know thy enemy.

-P!R

This series of numbers was run through a hex translater, and came out as June 24th, which appeared in the first series as well.

(we've since discovered that P!R means P does not equal R. Presumably R is the Robert in the letters. It's possible that this is a reference to a split personality)

The venue pattern is that the more forums brought into this, the more series are given. This was rather colorfully displayed by an email from "Robert," who seems a bit high strung.

There is also a Flickr account with all the letters and some commentshere.

Anyway, if someone has some input to give on all this, then we could sure use the help. I haven't posted here in about a year but I remember there being a lot of clever people hiding on this forums.

I've been following this on SA all day (even registered), and also forgot about MMG forums. Interesting stuff even though it doesn't have anything to do with the ACW.

Well, that's why I posted it in off-topic.

But yeah, I see what you mean. Still, seems like a lot of academically oriented people post here, so I figured we could at least try to tap into that.

\/\/\/ oooh my bad. Sorry about that.

What I was trying to say is it is interesting even to people with an ACW interest, not that it doesn't belong here.

I thought I would register here and spread the word...

I'm from EvilAvatar.com, one of the three "venues"...and we need help!

Even though it ultimately amounts to spreading a viral ad, we won't get the rest of the cipher if a couple more sites don't start getting involved.

For those of you who are curious...

Here is the thread over at Unfiction, as well as the one over at Evil Avatar.
