What program do you use to create the BMP input file? Maybe I need to use a different program .

I used MS Paint for most of it, and then I put the roads on in Gimp (paths tool), and made the field borders in Gimp (using the select all of color, and shrink selection tools).

But if I was doing a historical map and wanted to get the layout right, I'd use Paint.NET for the layout, since I can make a layer on top of a real map and paint on the layer, then delete the real map and just have my layer.

MS paint worked. I changed the grayscale .tga file to a .png file then opened it in MS piant. Then saved it as a .bmp. Ran that as an input file and presto no more line along the map edges. I have been using a little free program called DXTbmp to make the .bmp files but apparently it causes a problem.

OK, I downloaded the .zip. Ran the updater.exe file and got any error. Then pasted the url from the script.txt file to my browser, downloaded the most recent terraingen files. Unzipped. Looked at the files, the terraingen.exe also errors when executed by double clicking.

Anyone have a step-by step as to how this works? Do I need to locate image files in the same directory and edit the script.txt file to run the editor?

Thanks in advance for any responses - I'm ready to RTFM if someone will supply it. Confused

Chonaman, your post confused me as I have used Garnier's generator with no problems. My version is from before the locations editor was added.
I downloaded the latest version, and ran into the same problem as was stated in your post. I don't know the answer, but I feel your pain.

Hm, sorry for not checking here recently. I haven't encountered a problem yet myself, but if the updater is having a problem, tomorrow I'll reupload the working editor without the updater part, as it really isn't important.

Please note that the download link in post 1 is different from the most recent update of this tool. The more recent link includes the location generator and some fixes that the original link does not have. Get the files here
