This map and OOB pack can be downloaded here -

http://www.mediafire.com/?uvgoqzt5cmj

2 versions incl - daytime and sunset.

The Battle of Iuka was fought on September 19, 1862, in Iuka, Mississippi. It was the opening battle of the Iuka-Corinth Campaign.

Installation

A) You need TCM2 patched up to patch 3 and CMP-installed.

B) Extract the Iuka folder to your desk top then follow these instructions.

........................................................................................................
To use this map in Open Play you need to

1. Copy the Iuka.dat folder to Packages folder

2. Copy the Maps folder to Maps in your TCM2 directory

3. Copy the Graphics folder to the Graphics folder in your TCM2 directory

4. Copy the Sounds folder to your TCM2 directory

5. Then

Open sprites.csv, textures.csv and gamesounds.csv in your TCM2 Data Files folder with notepad and copy and past the entries contained in the download into them.

5. Options in TCM2

If your computer can cope I'd recommend playing this map with the following options on

Draw trees off map

Maximum drawing distance to 1500

....................................................................................................

Credits

Tacloban - OOB
Tomcattwo - dat files
Davinci - map know how.
122nd Ohio - ditto
davidd - inspirational terrain mods
GrayGhost - scenario examples etc
CMP3 contributors and ADukes for pulling the thing together.
Greyman.
Anyone who has modded this beast of a game.

Rosencrans' forces marching past the Ricks (Rix) house.

Sterling Price seeks to bar their way to Iuka

The 11th Ohio Battery (see the Keith Rocco painting).

Sanborn deploys.

The prize - Iuka. Here I'm using some of Tomcattwo's F'Burg 3D files. Another 3d object goldmine. Thanks to him for his hard work.

Crikey - that is looking very good, so you are working on two maps at the same time, that makes you the man !

oooh, that looks spooky. What's waiting in them woods?

This is a predictable question coming from me, but do you want an OOB for Iuka or do you have that covered already? I already have a Corinth OOB (October 1962) done, so I've gotten a head start.

Tacloban - thanks an oob would be welcome. I experimented with a make shift version but I suspect your one will be more accurate. Sorry to be a pain but are you willing to do some testing on the map at some point?

Corinth oob - Corinth may be the next map. Makes sense to round off this particular campaign. Wink

Is the Corvette a car? I'll have to work quickly because I'll be out of touch for a week after 6 March.

Have you considered darkening the sprites (both man and nature) to represent the fact that the fight took place in late afternoon/early?

(Ya know me, always thinking aesthetically...) Laughing

guitarmandanga- useful suggestion. As far as I can tell the first clash happened around 4.30pm, and fighting went on until dusk. I can adjust the ini file accordingly but from a cosmetic perspective, do you think this is a more accurate reflection of the sky/light conditions?

Crikey a fantastic map - (he gave me a sneak peak) very atmospheric you can almost feel the heat and love the town set up (there seem to be a couple of glitches with one or two roofs though... nothing major) played it with one of my new oobs featuring guitarmandanga's excellent western sprite which added to the feel of the map ....cant wait for the scenario's

This game just gets better! Who needs GSOW (only joking Norb!!)

Beautiful Crikey - I love this map - lovely open spaces for artillery duels!

Thanks Crikey. I can't wait to try it out. Sorry if I held you up.

There is a "what if" OOB included for Open Play that includes Ord's Left Wing of the Army of the Tennessee. Ord was supposed to engage from the north when he heard the sounds of Rosencrans' guns to the southwest, but niether Ord nor Grant, who was with him, heard the battle noises and so didn't commit. If he had, Price would have been in a pickle. see how long you can survive as Price. Both sides include significant cavalry that was around at the time.
