New Market Heights 1864

Map - http://www.mediafire.com/?9gsspyx72rxa9tc

Scenario - http://www.mediafire.com/?2nkpcoo6hcx6cht

"As the morning sun burned through the fog along the New Market Road about eight miles southeast of Richmond on the autumn morning of September 29, 1864, it revealed a scene of carnage and human wreckage. Dead infantrymen in coats that were a familiar shade of Union blue covered the slopes before New Market Heights. But most of the faces of the dead and maimed were black...."

New Market Heights README

This mod will install

- 1 new map - NMHeights

- 1 package - NMHeights.dat

- 1 scenario - NMH01 - 29 Sept - Medals of Honor (U_Div) - (CMP3 only)

To Note

The NMH OOB for the scenario is based on a similar approach to that used in GrayGhost's SR1 scenarios.

In TCM2 1 soldier sprite equals 10 men. GrayGhost produced a series of SR1 scenarios using his 1:1 mod - so that a regiment of 300 men with 10 companies was represented by 300 sprites (but recorded as 3000 men in game).

For space reasons, the NMH mod uses a ratio of 1:2. As per SR1, the structure is broken down so that regiments now represent companies, and brigade commanders represent regimental commanders etc. My thanks to GrayGhost for his work on the SR1 mod.

Historical Accuracy - I have taken the liberty, for gameplay reasons, of making all of Holman's Brigade available to participate in the attack rather than just the 22nd USCT. For similar reasons I have also kept the rebel forces intact rather than have units depart at various points as happened in the real battle.

IMPORTANT

You need TCM2 patched up to patch 3 and CMP3-installed.

You cannot play the map in open play, unless you enter the new sprites, textures and gamesounds included with the mod.

Back up your csv files first before installing the mod.

Installation

To use these maps in Open Play you need to

1. Download and extract the mod to your desktop.

2. Copy the Packages folder to your TCM2 directory

3. Copy the Maps folder to your TCM2 directory

4. Copy the Graphics folder to your TCM2 directory.

6. Copy the scenarios folder to your TCM2 directory.

7. Then

Open your TCM2 sprites.csv and textures.csv and gamesounds.csv with notepad and copy and past the entries contained in the downloads into them. Save.

8. Options in TCM2

If your computer can cope I'd recommend playing this map with the following options on

Draw trees off map

Maximum drawing distance to 1500

Crikey – the energizer commercial doesn’t have a battery that can out last you, excellent map and modding!

Hey, you know that you can take one of the uniform sets and make it slightly darker, this will give you an additional uniform set for mixture.

I do this with the new games graphics, and it helps to break the ranks up a bit!

Laughing Yes this is another one of those a maps I started ages ago and never finished.

Thanks Davinci. I took your advice and produced a 2nd set of USCT sprites to break things up.

I've also added in some new flags.

Excellent work Crikey – I actually had to do a Google Search in relation to your display of flags, I really didn’t know that there were flags during that time that looked like that!

I've always loved the USCT bayoneting the rebel. They are literally killing the rebellion.

Wow nice company level shots Crikey - this is something I have been looking at recently... for some of the smaller infantry/cavalry engagements...like Valverde.

Map nearly finished. Really liked 2nd_Tx use of the SoW crops in his Wilson's Creek wip map so imported those into NMH.

Have also started on a scenario to go with the map.
