The Rebels and Redcoats mod is now available for download here RnRv1.01 and here Harpers Ferry
Here’s the readme for the game.
IMPORTANT README
This is the first beta version of Rebels and Redcoats mod for the brilliant TC2M made by the skunkworks team.
Install the mod over a clean patched copy of TC2M. The installer points to the default folder of TC2M. If you want to keep your original unsullied then copy it to a new folder and point the installer there (provided you have enough hard disk space).
A lot has been changed in the mod. Graphics, formations, weapons, sounds etc. etc. We want you to play it and report back to us. The mod will be updated and revised based on feedback we receive. Greyman has done a magnificent job data editing and adding whole new sounds – it really is almost a brand new game.
You can only play in Open Play at the moment. Custom scenarios will follow – if you happened to make one please let us know! There are three ‘order of battles’ to pick from – they all have AWI in the titles. Don’t use any of the other OBs – they will crash.
The game MUST be played using low res unit graphics and high res Flags at the moment. If you don’t, it will crash. High res graphics will be available soon once we have sorted a little bug.
The mod is not perfect but we feel it’s ready to let you lot give it a run out and report back. Some graphics like Flags need more work etc.
The SkunkWorks Team:
Bedbug - 3D Modeler and Graphic Artist
Brett Schulte - Orders of Battle / Battle Histories / SkunkWorks Forum Master
Chicora - Playtester
Chris G - Playtester / Graphic Artist
COL Elward - Playtester / Cinematographer
Dunhill_BKK - Graphic Artist
DavidD – Graphic artist
EarlofWarwick - Historical Researcher / Lead Designer for The Crimean War Mod
GREYMAN - Modder / Lead Designer for Rebels and Redcoats
Meagher – Playtester and OB maker
RebYank - Playtester / SkunkWorks Forum Moderator / Cinematographer
Shenrougu - Modder / Lead Designer for Jacobite Rebellion: Colluden
Stonewall Jackson – Lead Playtester for Rebels and Redcoats
TC237 - Graphic Artist
Tim - 3D Modeler and Animator
Ulster Confederate - Playtester
Yankee 1950 – Scenarios and OBs
Thanks also go to Wrangler for his help and advice.
Have fun
The skunkboys!
The mod comes with an uninstaller so you can quickly reverted to the original if its not your cup of tea (caution the uninstaller doesn't always work properly but you can easily reinstall the original TC2M from cd or download if it doesn't). The best way to install is copy the original game folder, rename the copied folder Take Command – Rebels and Redcoats and install it there.
Some of the known issues are:-
TC2M text appears on some splash screens.
British flags to be allocated to the correct regiments (at the moment some are correct, some guessed, plus we need some green, buff and white graphics).
The American flags are also ‘guessed’ using available sources. Information on American flags is a bit scarce.
Flag stutter to sort out.
High res graphics to be added.
Artillery to be overhauled – grapeshot added and different calibres included. British Artillery has wrong toolbar.
Wheel button to be sorted – it works but doesn’t highlight properly.
Mel Gibson to be shot at dawn.
We hope to add some more units such as Hessian Grenadiers. However we are also working on upgrading the sprites. Rather than using modified models exported from Rome Total War we are working on custom built stuff which looks so much nicer. At some stage we will replace the current set of sprites but it will be a massive job.
If you can help with any research, can make new order of battles, custom scenarios, graphics or spot anything that needs changing please post.
Enjoy!

Play and I'm sure you'll enjoy.
As stated we worked very hard and overcame much to bring it to you and in the process created new processes to smooth the road ahead in some areas and found other areas that we're sure we can tweek to wow you in the future.
A special thanks to Adam and Norb for bringing forward such a great and versatile platform and sacrificing so much so that our respective warmongering dreams can take shape
....and to Tim and Greyman who did most of the heavy lifting on this one. _________________

My website can be a bit kooky at times - we will get a copy up at Harpers Ferry asap.
Yes - there is new scenary in there made by Davidd - it's very nice.
There's more to come - we are full of ideas and enthusiatic members.
And yes a big big thanks to norb and Adam for not only making the brilliant TC2M but making it so moddable and actually supporting the modders! _________________

wow, came form my first game, it was cool, and easy, played on normal, and just sweapt those damn rebels of the map, I was on the flank, and has set up some lines when the americans walked right into them.
NOT ONE of my regiments routed, but I routed like 10 of there's and tok like 5 captive. I lost 350 men and killed or caputerd 1500.
the battle was just as one sided on the other flank to. at the and the americans had 5000 casulties while the Brits only had 1500
PS. I don't konw what you've done with the mele but i like it. not one regiment charged even tho they were verry close to each other. _________________

Only had a quick look through the screens so far----but it looks excellent both re scenery and units.
So much talent and dedication ---- congrats to all concerned.
Three mini gliches which you might like to address---
Two 16th Light Dragoons in Cornwallis command --- one should be 17th
Two 4th brigades in Percys command,
And I got a crash when dismounting cavalry.
Looking forward to engaging in reversing history and to further developments in this impessive expansion of a great game. |

pccelt, I think both the 16th and 17th light dragoons are represented in my battle of LI ob file. Each is broken into 2 battalions and commanded by their respective Colonels, Harcourt and Birch. _________________ Faugh a' Ballaugh!

| Excellent mod. I was a bit to eager and I installed the RnR without saving the TC2M. How do I get it back please? It would be nice to switch back and forth easily. (I read the "read me" fileand I guess I failed to understand it) |

| 9thmoss, if you simply installed the mod into your default TC2M directory, you'll need to reinstall TC2M to get it back to the ACW, if the uninstaller doesn't work as intended. |
